A ILHA DO CHÁ The Island of Tea

"The kettle is always on the fire, because the tea is drink at all hours"

São Miguel in the Azores, best known as "The Island of Tea" appears on the route of this plant in 1750, where several industries have developed an unparalleled quality of cultivation, being considered today as a biological tea, by keeping the same form processing from 250 years ago.

By invitation of the Associação Tradições of Ponta Delgada, the PIA company directed another performative project creating a piece, alluding to the tea and its importance in the precious islands of the Azores, São Miguel.

Involving the integral elements of the Tradições Association / BeFreak Group, and creating specifically a show for future tour of the group Tradições, the implementation of the Performance 茶 The Island of Tea, took place from February to May 2016, and it incorporated a Formation Cycle, with several Workshops with visual and performative approaches, concluding with the creation of a performance that premiered on last 2016 May 7th in Ponta Delgada, São Miguel.
